We still have rust problems with them. Have also coated with rust after six months to one year of use, and is a constant pain replaced it. Once it begins to rust, not completely closed and can not escape the dog. Our dog loves to be by his tie, because the mailman is the question!

You can easily build and a large outdoor cage ineascape then you should not worry.
As for the oxidation of metal left outside for a while, put chains oxidized r dog and make sure the there is no water, no matter how you is the rust probably gunna.
No, I do not know where they sell them. It is prohibited to the dog-chain, where I live. Perhaps Wal-Mart sells stuff.
