The high peaks area is great, but I get scrowded summer and on weekends. It is a loop of some peaks (Wolfjaw Armstrong, others?) Excellent loop at the top. Fewer people than Mt.Marcy.A Canoe Area is cool Follensbey Pond. Have used paddle Ralph Waldo Emerson and other writers of the time there. (Chain of Lakes w few portages as a souvenir.) Indian Lake in the S. Central Park is the center of the classical form of canoeing and kayaking. Truly a jewel of the region, fewer people compared to the high peaks and Luke. Placid area. I went to university 20 years ago at Le Champlain in Plattsburgh. They have returned from the trip, but the plan to go with my family all these years only soon.Enjoy.
